John Whalen
Passionate, addicted or a combination of both: Whalen has been photographing for over 40+ years. He has worked in nearly every format, both in analog and digital; 35mm, medium format, SLR, DSLR, range finder, twin-lens reflex, and iPhone. He currently works extensively with the Leica M and S series cameras.
Photographing the world around him, Whalen explores and documents his subjects with a street photographer's eye for action and a landscape photographer's sense of composition. Whether documenting street life, a fisherman's life, nightlife, or the dedication and bravery of firefighters, he works his subjects with an unadulterated commitment towards capturing the soul of their moment. No subject is off limits if the action is truthful.
